Garbage Disposal Replacement

Replacing a disposal that's already under your sink, on the drain and outlet that are already there. The old one comes out, the new one goes on, and I run water through it long enough to be sure nothing weeps.

It's not jammed. It's finished. There's a difference.

Where

Garbage Disposal across San Diego County

Same flat price everywhere I go. The city pages cover what's actually different about the housing stock — because a 1920s plaster wall and a 2015 tract wall are not the same job.

Questions

About Garbage Disposal

More general questions are answered on the main FAQ.

Is this plumbing work?

It's a fixture replacement on the existing drain connection and existing outlet. No new plumbing runs, no repiping, no permit. If your under-sink plumbing turns out to need actual repair, I'll show you what I'm looking at and refer you to a plumber.

What if there's no outlet under my sink?

Then it's hardwired, and swapping a hardwired unit is still a like-for-like replacement I can do. What I can't do is add an outlet where there isn't one — that's permit work.

Which disposal should I buy?

For most kitchens, 1/2 to 3/4 horsepower is plenty. Text me a photo of what's under there now and I'll tell you what fits the space and the existing plumbing.

Do you take the old one away?

Yes, that's included.

Garbage disposal replacement in San Diego

Garbage disposal replacement in San Diego is a swap job, not a plumbing project — old unit off the existing mount, new one on, same drain and same outlet under the sink. That distinction matters, because it is what keeps it inside what I can take on. If your call turns out to need new drain lines or a new circuit under there, I will tell you on the spot and point you at the right trade rather than opening up a wall.

The local wrinkle is water. San Diego runs hard water by any measure, and years of it leaves scale on the flange and mineral crust on the drain threads that a five-minute video never mentions. Getting an old unit off cleanly in a 1970s Clairemont or La Mesa kitchen often takes longer than fitting the new one. I bring the parts that usually need replacing anyway, and I run water through and check every joint for weeping before I pack up.

Send a photo of the spot. I'll confirm $169.

If the photo shows something that changes the price, you'll know before I drive out — not after.
