Bressi Ranch, Aviara and La Costa kitchens have modern drain plumbing, an outlet under the sink, and adequate cabinet clearance. A swap is a clean hour. A fair number of these homes have deep undermount sinks with composite or stone counters, which means the mounting assembly wants care on alignment rather than force — but it's still a like-for-like replacement on the existing connection.
Since Carlsbad sits in my batched North County day, a disposal on its own is a slot I could otherwise give to a longer job. If there's anything else on your list — a fan, a doorbell, a camera — doing it in the same visit is genuinely better value for you and makes the trip work for me. Carlsbad Village kitchens west of the 5 are older and more variable, with the same adapted-plumbing questions as the older coastal neighbourhoods elsewhere.

Given the drive, a disposal on its own is a slot I could otherwise give to something longer — so if there's anything else on your list, mention it and we'll do it in the same visit. That's better value for you too. Before I come, clear the cabinet and photograph the trap, the dishwasher line, and whether it's plugged in or hardwired. If you have a deep undermount sink with a stone counter, measure the clearance below it as well.

Carlsbad HOAs are among the most specific in the county about exterior modifications, and a few require architectural review for anything visible from the street. Cameras under an eave are usually fine; a camera on a front wall sometimes isn't. Check first — it costs you nothing and saves a second trip.

Is this plumbing work?
It's a fixture replacement on the existing drain connection and existing outlet. No new plumbing runs, no repiping, no permit. If your under-sink plumbing turns out to need actual repair, I'll show you what I'm looking at and refer you to a plumber.
What if there's no outlet under my sink?
Then it's hardwired, and swapping a hardwired unit is still a like-for-like replacement I can do. What I can't do is add an outlet where there isn't one — that's permit work.
Which disposal should I buy?
For most kitchens, 1/2 to 3/4 horsepower is plenty. Text me a photo of what's under there now and I'll tell you what fits the space and the existing plumbing.
