Will it fit my door?
Most standard doors, yes. Text me a photo of the current deadbolt from both sides and I'll confirm before you buy anything. Thick doors and unusual backsets are the two things that catch people out.
What if my door doesn't close properly now?
Then a smart lock will make it worse, not better. I can usually adjust the strike plate as part of the install. If the door itself has dropped or the frame has shifted, I'll tell you what's actually wrong.
Can you install one on a glass or sliding door?
No — those need a different kind of hardware. Standard deadbolt replacements on hinged doors are what I do here.

Smart lock installation in San Diego is usually a door problem wearing a technology costume. A Schlage or Yale unit swaps onto an existing deadbolt in twenty minutes, and then the door does not latch cleanly, because the frame moved years ago and everyone in the house learned to lift the handle without noticing. Older homes across Golden Hill, Talmadge and Normal Heights have settled enough that the strike plate no longer lines up, and a motorised bolt is far less forgiving of that than your wrist was.
So the install includes making the door work. I check the reveal, adjust or shim the strike, and confirm the bolt throws fully without being driven. San Diego's swings between a damp marine morning and a dry Santa Ana afternoon move a wooden door more than people expect, so I set it with a little tolerance rather than dialled in tight to one day's conditions. Codes get programmed with you before I leave, and the old keys still work unless you ask me to rekey them out.
