West of the 5, the older South Oceanside and Fire Mountain kitchens have the usual pre-war characteristics: smaller cabinets, mixed-era plumbing, sometimes a cast iron sink. A like-for-like swap is fine; anything beyond that I'll flag rather than improvise around. East of the 5, Rancho del Oro and 92057 kitchens are modern and this is a routine hour.
For renters — and a large share of Oceanside is renting — a failed disposal is normally the landlord's responsibility rather than yours, and it's worth checking before you pay for it yourself. If your property manager wants it handled and wants an invoice, that's straightforward. What I'd rather you didn't do is buy and pay for a replacement in a property you don't own without asking, when the lease may well cover it. Oceanside is a batched North County day for me, so combining it with anything else on your list is the efficient way to book.

It's the longest drive on my list, so I batch Oceanside with Carlsbad and Encinitas and run North County as a day. That means fewer available slots but a real arrival time when you get one. Coast Highway is slow in summer; I schedule around it.

Is this plumbing work?
It's a fixture replacement on the existing drain connection and existing outlet. No new plumbing runs, no repiping, no permit. If your under-sink plumbing turns out to need actual repair, I'll show you what I'm looking at and refer you to a plumber.
What if there's no outlet under my sink?
Then it's hardwired, and swapping a hardwired unit is still a like-for-like replacement I can do. What I can't do is add an outlet where there isn't one — that's permit work.
Which disposal should I buy?
For most kitchens, 1/2 to 3/4 horsepower is plenty. Text me a photo of what's under there now and I'll tell you what fits the space and the existing plumbing.
