La Mesa walls, ceilings and doors
The Village, Fletcher Hills, and the older streets around Lake Murray are largely 1920s through 1950s. Lath and plaster is common, framing spacing is inconsistent, and a fair number of homes have had wiring updated in a way that left the original boxes in place. For fan work that matters: an old box may be fine for a light and completely unsuitable for a fan, and I check that before anything gets hung.
Mount Helix is a mix of eras built onto a slope. Split levels, homes with the garage below the living space, and a lot of exterior walls that are two storeys up from the ground on the downhill side. Camera placement there is genuinely a design problem rather than a mounting problem — the best angle is often reachable only from inside a window, and it's worth walking it together before I mount anything.
Getting to you
Mount Helix roads are narrow, steep, and switchbacked, with very little room to park near a driveway. If your driveway is steep, say so — I'll plan for it rather than blocking your neighbour.

How does the price work?

When do I pay?
When it's done and you've looked at it. No deposit, no card on file, no payment up front.
How soon can you come out?
Usually this week, often the next day. You'll get a real arrival time — an actual hour, not a four-hour window.
Do you supply the equipment?
No. You buy the TV mount, the doorbell, the fan — whatever it is — and I install it. That keeps my price flat, means you own the parts, and means you're not paying a markup on something you can get delivered tomorrow. If you're unsure what to buy, text me and I'll tell you what fits.
Is it really just one person?
Yes. The person who quotes the job is the person who shows up and does it. You won't get a dispatcher, a rotating crew, or somebody who's never seen the photo you sent.
What can't you do?
Anything that needs a building permit — new circuits, new outlets, panel work, repiping, water heater or HVAC changeouts, gas lines, structural changes. Also anything where the total cost of the job would run to $1,000 or more. Those need a licensed contractor, and I'd rather refer you to one than take on something I shouldn't.

La Mesa is a mix I like working in — a genuinely old core around the village with 1920s and 1930s homes, wrapped in a lot of 1950s and 1960s post-war tract. The two need different approaches on the same street sometimes, so it is worth mentioning the age of your house when you get in touch rather than assuming it is like the neighbours'.
The local characteristic is hills. Mount Helix and the streets around it are steep, with split-level homes, long stair runs and detached garages below the house. That affects camera sightlines, WiFi coverage between levels, and occasionally whether a ladder can be set safely where the work needs to happen. A photo showing the approach as well as the spot itself saves a wasted trip for both of us.
