Escondido walls, ceilings and doors
Old Escondido is a designated historic neighbourhood with homes going back to the 1880s and 1890s — Victorians, Craftsman bungalows, board-and-batten. Walls there can be lath and plaster, can be shiplap under plaster, and are occasionally something I've not seen before. I take those slowly and I don't guess. If you're in the historic district and mounting anything to an exterior wall, check whether your property has any overlay restrictions first.
Rancho San Pasqual, Hidden Meadows, and the newer tracts off Bear Valley Parkway are 1990s and later on larger lots, with vaulted ceilings and long driveways. Hidden Meadows in particular is rural enough that WiFi coverage to a detached garage or a gate camera needs actual planning rather than an extra node dropped in a hallway.
Getting to you
Escondido runs hot — regularly over 100°F inland in late summer. I book attic, ceiling, and exterior work here for mornings, and I'd rather move your slot than do a fan install badly at 3pm in August.

How does the price work?

When do I pay?
When it's done and you've looked at it. No deposit, no card on file, no payment up front.
How soon can you come out?
Usually this week, often the next day. You'll get a real arrival time — an actual hour, not a four-hour window.
Do you supply the equipment?
No. You buy the TV mount, the doorbell, the fan — whatever it is — and I install it. That keeps my price flat, means you own the parts, and means you're not paying a markup on something you can get delivered tomorrow. If you're unsure what to buy, text me and I'll tell you what fits.
Is it really just one person?
Yes. The person who quotes the job is the person who shows up and does it. You won't get a dispatcher, a rotating crew, or somebody who's never seen the photo you sent.
What can't you do?
Anything that needs a building permit — new circuits, new outlets, panel work, repiping, water heater or HVAC changeouts, gas lines, structural changes. Also anything where the total cost of the job would run to $1,000 or more. Those need a licensed contractor, and I'd rather refer you to one than take on something I shouldn't.

Escondido is the furthest regular drive I make, so like Carlsbad it works best batched into a North County day with a couple of time options rather than one fixed slot. It is worth the trip because the work here tends to be substantial — larger inland homes, bigger lots, and more of the whole-house jobs like network coverage and multi-room audio that need a few hours rather than one.
Inland heat is the local factor again: real air conditioning use, attics that are morning-only work in summer, and equipment on west-facing walls that needs to be chosen for the sun it will take. The older core near Grand Avenue has genuinely old housing stock with plaster and irregular framing, while the newer developments north and east are conventional drywall. Tell me roughly when the house was built and I will know what to bring.
