Smart home installation in San Diego
Most smart home installation in San Diego is not a project — it is a stack of boxes in a closet that never got opened. A thermostat, a lock, a couple of speakers and a garage module bought over two years, each one abandoned at the point where it wanted a WiFi password or a wire that was not there. Getting them installed and, more importantly, linked to each other is an afternoon rather than a renovation.
The local constraint is always the network. Stucco over wire lath, which describes most San Diego housing built before 1960, is genuinely hostile to 2.4GHz, and the majority of smart home devices still run on it. That is why a device works in the hall and not in the garage, and why I check signal where equipment is actually going before installing it rather than after. Everything here is a swap onto existing wiring or a plug-in device — new circuits are a licensed electrician's work.
