In South Oceanside, Fire Mountain and the older downtown streets, you're close enough to the water that hardware choice matters — I use stainless, because zinc screws on a coastal door will streak rust down the surround inside a couple of years. Those older homes also have the same dead-wiring question as the rest of the pre-war coast, so I check for live low-voltage before assuming a wired install.
East of the 5 in Rancho del Oro and 92057, the wiring is modern and the surrounds are stucco, so it's a quick swap. Many of these are rentals connected to Camp Pendleton, and for a two- or three-year posting the battery model on a no-drill or minimal-fastener mount is genuinely the better choice — it comes with you, and it leaves the landlord's door frame alone. I'll set it up properly either way, but I'll tell you which one actually suits your situation rather than which one costs more.

What if I don't have existing doorbell wiring?
Then the battery version is your answer, and I'll mount and set that up instead. Running new wiring to a door that never had a doorbell isn't work I take on — text me a photo of the door frame and I'll tell you which situation you're in.
Will my indoor chime still ring?
If you have a standard mechanical chime, usually yes, and I test it before leaving. Some models need a small adapter at the chime box — if yours does, I'll fit it.
Do you set up the app?
Yes. Pairing, WiFi, and motion zones are part of the job. I'd rather spend ten extra minutes getting the alerts right than have you turn them off next week because they fire every time a car passes.
