The 1980s and 1990s housing stock has solid doorbell wiring and stucco surrounds, so the install itself is routine. What's distinctive here is how far the front door often sits from the street. On the larger Green Valley and Garden Road lots, and especially in east Poway and High Valley, someone can be at your gate or partway up the drive and be nowhere near the doorbell's field of view.
That means motion zones need setting thoughtfully rather than at the default. Set too wide, you'll get an alert every time a car passes the end of a long driveway, and you'll turn notifications off within a fortnight — which defeats the entire purpose. I tune the zones with you on site so the alerts you get are ones you care about. If the real question is who's at the gate rather than who's at the door, that's a camera job, and I'll say so.

Tell me roughly how far your front door is from where a visitor or a delivery driver actually parks. In Poway that distance is frequently 40 feet or more, and it decides whether a doorbell alone does what you want. If the answer is that you mostly want to see the gate or the top of the drive, say so — that's a camera, and I'd rather tell you before you buy a doorbell that watches an empty porch. A photo of the door and the approach helps.

What if I don't have existing doorbell wiring?
Then the battery version is your answer, and I'll mount and set that up instead. Running new wiring to a door that never had a doorbell isn't work I take on — text me a photo of the door frame and I'll tell you which situation you're in.
Will my indoor chime still ring?
If you have a standard mechanical chime, usually yes, and I test it before leaving. Some models need a small adapter at the chime box — if yours does, I'll fit it.
Do you set up the app?
Yes. Pairing, WiFi, and motion zones are part of the job. I'd rather spend ten extra minutes getting the alerts right than have you turn them off next week because they fire every time a car passes.
