Mounting into stucco needs the right anchor and a masonry bit, not a wood screw and hope — and the older plaster surrounds in the Village and Windansea chip if you rush them. I drill for the material that's actually there. Where a doorbell is going onto a decorative or original surround, I'll usually suggest the smallest footprint unit that does the job, because the holes are permanent even if the doorbell isn't.
Salt air is the second consideration and it's a real one. Zinc-plated screws on a coastal front door will bleed rust down the stucco within a couple of years, so I use stainless. Bird Rock and Windansea front doors are also frequently west-facing, which means the camera looks straight into afternoon sun — that washes out the image at exactly the hour you most want it. Sometimes the fix is a slight angle off the walkway; sometimes it's mounting on the opposite side of the door. It's worth two minutes on site rather than discovering it a week later.

Streets in Bird Rock and above the Village are narrow and steep with limited parking, and a few of the coastal condo buildings require a certificate of insurance from anyone working on site before they'll let you up. Ask your building what they need and I'll tell you honestly whether I can meet it.

What if I don't have existing doorbell wiring?
Then the battery version is your answer, and I'll mount and set that up instead. Running new wiring to a door that never had a doorbell isn't work I take on — text me a photo of the door frame and I'll tell you which situation you're in.
Will my indoor chime still ring?
If you have a standard mechanical chime, usually yes, and I test it before leaving. Some models need a small adapter at the chime box — if yours does, I'll fit it.
Do you set up the app?
Yes. Pairing, WiFi, and motion zones are part of the job. I'd rather spend ten extra minutes getting the alerts right than have you turn them off next week because they fire every time a car passes.
